Don’t Lie to the Newspaper

A story in Friday’s Ocean Star quotes Laura Beeden regarding the Nazi image she posted to her website. In it she states, “People were offended so I took it down last week.”

Oh, really? The vile image was taken down last week…?

ThenĀ what’s this?

UPDATE: The vile Nazi image has finally been removed from Laura Beeden’s website. Interesting how something that circulated underground for nearly two years was removed within a week of being made public, proving yet again that rats always scurry for cover when exposed to the light.

    You know, I’ve stayed on the sidelines during this dispute … I enjoy reading both blogs, for different reasons. But I’ve read a number of rebuttals on animal lovers blog about the doctored poster and I posted the following … I don’t expect her “moderator” to approve the post:

    “You know, I enjoy this blog and the back and forthes between this blog and Boro Independent. But there comes a time when you have to realize that a single image used by the most heinous criminal quite possibly in the history of modern man is offensive on so many levels. it offends the millions that survived, and the memories of the millions that perished at the hands of people who saluted that image.

    Maybe it’s just a bad joke that got out of hand. But there has to be a realization that the image is not just offensive to a few local GOPers that got their nose out of joint … The image is offensive to anyone that has an understanding of the history of that vile symbol. Stop trying to defend a bad decision … Remove it from your site and apologize to everyone that’s ever suffered at the hands of those that swore allegiance to the evil symbol.”

      @SpaceForThePoppa, well said.

      Not sure what time you posted this Cort, but as of around midnight on the 13th, the image is no longer there. Personally, I think an apology would be in order, but I wouldn’t expect one.

      • Cortland says:

        Tom – Thanks for the heads-up. The post has been updated.

          Re-reading my comment, to clarify, I meant Laura should apologize, not Cort.

    Why don’t you take the image off your site, it’s offensive on anyone’s website.

    • Cortland says:

      Independent – That’s a fair point.

      The image, along with the original post, has been removed.

    Cortland, I feel that was a very good move. That ad has no place here in town. Now would be a good time to focus current issues like the budget, contracts, and current candidates for the next election.
